For garages and MOT centres
One garage diary for customers, front of house and technicians
Let customers book online while staff add calls, walk-ins and drop-offs once staff booking is configured. Apply the same services, durations, eligibility and payment rules, then give each technician the work they can actually perform.
Built around the counter
A garage takes work in every way at once: online, on the phone, from someone standing at the counter, and from a trade customer who drops a car off before work.
METBooker keeps those routes in one operational diary so the counter, the technicians and the owner are looking at the same day. The services, durations, staff eligibility, deposit rules and availability behind each route are the same, so an online customer is never offered a time that the phone diary has already filled.
- How work arrives
- Online, phone, counter, walk-in, drop-off and reviewed requests
- What shapes capacity
- Technicians, service eligibility, timed work and daily drop-off limits
- How people are allocated
- Round robin, least busy, priority order or a deliberate choice
- How payment is taken
- Deposit online, balance by link, card reader at the counter or a recorded manual method
- Vehicle information
- Registration lookup, vehicle details, MOT history and MOT and tax status
01
Work arrives from everywhere
Customers can choose an available online slot. Front-of-house staff can add a phone or counter booking. A vehicle can be accepted as a drop-off against a daily service limit. Work that needs checking first can enter as a request. Each route lands in the same operational diary.
Staff and phone bookings and requested work are configured for your account during onboarding.
How booking routes work02
Allocate work with the right rule
Give each technician a calendar and define the services they can perform. METBooker can allocate eligible work by round robin, least busy or priority, while staff can still make a deliberate assignment when the job requires it.
Example. A brake service is booked online for Thursday morning. Only the two technicians assigned to brake work are eligible, and the job goes to whichever of them has the lighter day.
Allocation is a set of plain rules applied to the staff assigned to each service. It is not artificial intelligence.
Team and operations03
See the vehicle context before the keys move
Registration lookup can add vehicle details and MOT history to the booking. MOT and tax status can support a business's own checks before a vehicle arrives or is road tested. These checks do not confirm insurance, roadworthiness or driver entitlement.
Customers and vehicles04
Take payment the way the handover happens
Collect a deposit online, send a balance link before collection, take a supported card-terminal payment at the counter, or record cash and other supported manual methods against the booking. The job shows what has been paid, refunded or remains due.
Payment links, the Stripe Terminal card reader and counter sales are configured for your account during onboarding.
Payments05
Finish from the same record
Mark work in progress and complete, send an optional ready-for-collection message, and produce an invoice or export where those features are enabled.
Invoices and credit notes are configured during onboarding. Bookkeeping exports are files for your accountant's software, not a live connection.
Invoicing and bookkeepingA garage job, step by step
From the first booking to the invoice, on one record.
- Booked
Online with a deposit, or by phone or at the counter by front-of-house staff.
- Allocated
Given to an eligible technician by your allocation rule, or chosen deliberately.
- Checked
Vehicle details and MOT history are on the booking before the car arrives.
- Worked on
Marked in progress, then complete, with an optional ready-for-collection message.
- Collected
The balance is paid against the job and the invoice comes from the same record.
What to know first
- METBooker is an automotive booking and operations platform, not a replacement for every function of a full garage management system. It does not provide estimating, parts or stock control, workshop bay management or multi-site management.
- Each booking goes to one member of staff or calendar. Some garages set up a bay as its own calendar so it cannot be double-booked.
- MOT and tax data support your own checks; they do not confirm insurance, roadworthiness or driver entitlement.
- Staff bookings, add-ons, payment links, invoices, counter sales, the card reader and reminders are configured during onboarding rather than switched on for every new account.
Common questions
Can customers book online while staff book by phone?
Yes. Customers book online from your booking page or website, and once staff booking is configured for your account, front-of-house staff add phone, counter, walk-in and drop-off bookings to the same diary under the same services and rules.
Can different services be assigned to different technicians?
Yes. Each service lists the staff who can perform it. METBooker then allocates eligible work by round robin, least busy or priority order, and staff can still choose a technician deliberately.
Can we limit how many vehicles are dropped off each day?
Yes. A service can be set up as a drop-off with a daily limit, so online availability stops offering that day once the limit is reached.
Can we take a balance without re-entering the job?
Yes. The balance is taken against the booking: by payment link where configured, on a Stripe Terminal card reader at the counter where enabled, or recorded as cash or another supported manual method. The booking shows what has been paid, refunded or remains due.
Does the vehicle check prove a car is legal to drive?
No. Registration lookup, MOT history and MOT and tax status support your own checks before a vehicle arrives or is road tested. They do not confirm insurance, roadworthiness or driver entitlement.
Can METBooker replace every function in our current GMS?
Not every function. METBooker covers booking, diaries, technician allocation, vehicle context, payments, selected invoicing and day-to-day oversight. It does not provide estimating, parts or stock control, workshop bay management or multi-site management, so some garages use it alongside other tools.
